This software is being released as a beta version. If you do find a bug please contact timetech@empnet.com Asciiwin was developed for use with the TimeTech Sprint 8. It has taken the place of ASC7000, an older DOS version. Asciiwin must be installed on a PC running Windows 3.1 or higher. Asciiwin will perform all communication and decoding of data from the Sprint 8 timer. The interface is simple and strait forward. We would like to give thanks to all those involved in the development of this program.

Asciiwin was developed to communicate with the TimeTech Sprint 8 timer. Elevating any programming, or decoding by the user. It's simple interface will have you collecting data in minutes from the Sprint 8. Asciiwin will setup all communications protocols, communicate with the Sprint 8, receive all data from the Sprint 8 and create a comma delimited file. The file created can than be imported into popular database, spreadsheet, and proprietary software.
After installing the program. Double click on the (VBTERM) ASCIIWIN icon or select it from the Programs menu under the start button. This will deploy the program.
Now you can open a file for the data to be transfered to. Simply click on the File menu item and select open.
ASCIIWIN will list all text files in the program directory. You may select one that already exists or create a new one. If you are going to use a file that has data in it you will be prompted with the following screen--
If you select yes all data will be deleted from the current file. If you select No the new data will be appended to the file leaving the old data intact.
Menu option CommPort will allow you to select from CommPort 1-4. Select the port that the Sprint 8 is connected to. There will be a checkmark placed next to the active CommPort.
ASCIIWIN is now ready to collect data from the Sprint 8. Now would be the time to get the timer ready. From Road Race mode press 2 for transmit. The Sprint 8 will not respond to any other keypress at this time, it is waiting for the computer to send a control code.
Select Receive Data Now from the Menu options. This will send the control code to the Sprint 8. You will see the the LED on the ASCIIWIN window turn green while data is being transfered and red when there is no data being transfered.
Here you see the LED is green. Data is being transmitted to the Computer
Here the LED is Red. There is not Data being transmitted.
Once the transfer of data is done ASCIIWIN will display how many times were written to the file. ASCIIWIN is now done with this transfer. If you wish to transmit from another timer simply connect the timer to the serial port cable and repeat the previous steps.

There is an error when I select a CommPort | Make sure there are no other devices using that CommPort. Mice, Modems, and some printers may be using this port. |
ASCIIWIN display a Timed Out message | Check all cable connections and verify the CommPort you have connected to is correct. |
Receive Data Now is greyed out | You must first Open a file for ASCIIWIN to put the data in. |
ASCIIWIN display an incorrect number to times | Try to transmit again. The data in the Sprint 8 may be corrupted. Email timetech with the problem or call (541) 388-4890. |
The following information is for Programmers:
Asciiwin has been designed to also run from the command line. This is very helpful if you have already written a program. You can keep your clients in your program and execute ours in the background. A seamless integration of the two programs. This should eliminate any confusion that you clients may have between our software packages. The command line is as follows:
[source directory]asciiwin.exe port:1 file:[destination directory]filename
source directory---directory path where the program asciiwin.exe is installed
port:1------------- for different ports change the number ie comm2 would be port:2
destination directory-directory path where asciiwin will create the output file
filename------------name of file to be created
example of command line:
c:\timetech\asciiwin.exe port:2 file:c:\timetech\test.txt
